Hi. Backers and Friends,
This is a quick update for Bose Quiet Comfort 25.
Non-Bose Quiet Comfort 25 owners
If you don't own Bose Quiet Comfort 25 headphones, you are all set after you answered the survey on BackerKit. You do not need to do anything.

Hi. Backers and Friends,
I just finished my trip to our manufacturing partner in China between April 19 to April 30. As we use all services provided by Google which is not accessible in China, VPN service was not stable and most often got cut off by a couple of min., it was really hard to have access to my email and documents. I couldn't readily make an update.
We made a great deal of progresses, and I'd like to touch on these topics
FCC certification
We sent in our final engineering samples to FCC labs in April, and the good news is we passed their tests towards the end of April. With FCC certification in hand, we are ready for preproduction.
Preproduction
We will make a preproduction run in the coming week, 3 days after the May Day holiday in China. The following is what will happen. We will make at least 100 units to iron out any kinks in the production/assembly line. Then we will fully test all units to the highest standards. The process will take about 3-4 weeks as we need to train all the assembly line workers. After the process, mass production will be able to proceed. I will make an update as soon as the mass production schedule is set. I will do my best to work with the manufacturing partner to schedule is in May if it's possible.
Bose Quiet Comfort 25 issues
In our original design, we'll make an adapter for Bose QC25. The idea is to plug in the adapter into Bose QC25, and then plug in the 3.5mm model of BTunes into the adapter. It turned out this adapter posed the greatest challenge to us. After discussing with our engineers, it was apparent that another solution is needed. We decided to make a special edition BTunes for Bose QC 25.
Note: The final product is black. The colors are for illustration of different parts.
With this special edition of BTunes for QC25, you directly plug into Bose Quiet Comfort 25 headphones, no adapter is needed. (Note for Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones owners, we will provide you with an adapter.)
In summary, we will have 3 editions of BTunes. The QC25 edition is for Bose Quiet Comfort 25 headphones, and the 2.5mm and 3.5mm for all other brands headphones. I will also work with BackerKit so you will make the correct choice.
Change of shipping addresses
Some of you asked me whether you can make changes to your shipping addresses. I haven't locked down on the addresses yet, so you can still make changes to your shipping addresses on BackerKit site. I hope to lock down all shipping addresses when the mass production schedule is set.
Thanks to the hard work of our engineers, we are in the home stretch now. We will do our best to deliver the BTunes to you as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please email to us at theBTunes at voxoa dot com.
Best regards,
Dp
Hi. Backers and Friends,
We've made more progress thanks to our engineers hard work. Here's a list of quick updates on the latest progress.
1. FCC certification
It was started a week ago after we sent in all the paperwork and samples of the BTunes to a Federal Communication Commission lab. We expected to receive a report back in about 3 more weeks.
2. Bose Quiet Comfort 15 adapter
We'll tested the working sample. It's fitting and working great.
Here's a video to show how it works.
Our engineers are still working hard on the adapter for Bose Quiet Comfort 25. It turned out that it's a challenge at the moment. The connector on the Bose QC25 is pretty thin, and we have to design a very small jack to fit there. It's still a work in progress.
3. Pre-production schedule
By now, we've finished a) engineering production, and b) the final engineering production, in which we tweak firmware and fine tune, for example, NFC antenna, Bluetooth antenna to maximize the reception distance. We did 3 week extensive testing on 40 units of BTunes samples during the final engineering production phase.
The next step is pre-production. It's how our manufacturing partner works to perfect the process of parts production, PCB board production, and production/assembly line procedures. This step is very important to ensure the highest yield during the mass production phase. We are scheduling the preproduction with our manufacturing partner, it will start after we receive the final report from FCC certification lab. We estimate it will be closer to the end of April.
We will make a few dozens of the BTunes in the pre-production phase. We will select some that meet the final quality criteria and make them ready for shipment.
Once we are satisfied with the whole process and quality, we will make mass production plan with our manufacturing partner.
If you have any other questions, please let us know.
Best regards,
Dp
